Welcome to Rapid.
"skills should be taught to our youngsters and not the neutral zone trap."
-- Blair Mackasey The question we are always asked is "how does Rapid produce so many good players." The answer is simple People. Respected and knowledgeable hockey people who know about the teaching process and who know about communicating. People who have played with skill and have taught those skills. People who know how to develop young players. People like Karel Svoboda, who developed his skill in the Czech National Team program, and Blair Mackasey, who is the head talent scout for the Canadian Junior Team. It is the belief in individual development that drives the Rapid curriculum. A curriculum that takes from Karel's youth training and Blair's strong belief that "skills should be taught to our youngsters and not the neutral zone trap." A curriculum that believes in Wayne Gretzky's philosophy that you win with skill because skilled players are more adaptable. A philosophy, Mackasey reminds us, that won Olympic gold for Canada. The reason we produce so many good players is our people and their commitment to individual skill development. Pre-Season OptionsHeld prior to the start of the season, age and skill appropriate drills provide players with the necessary tools for a great start to the season.
